The Founder

Lulla Belle Wilson

Lulla Belle Wilson has dedicated over 45 years to training and mentoring educators and students, leaving an indelible mark on the fields of science and health education. As an Academy Coordinator and Science Department Chair, she has played a pivotal role in curriculum development, teacher training, and state test reviews. Her influence extends beyond the classroom, as she has nurtured a generation of students who have gone on to become teachers, doctors, medical professionals, and business owners. With a passion for hands-on learning, she equips students with critical research, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry skills that prepare them for real-world success.

Beyond her work in the classroom, Lulla Belle has been a mother figure to many, opening her home to international students seeking educational opportunities in the United States. Recognizing the need to introduce younger students to health sciences, she played a key role in expanding the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) program to include middle school students. Her efforts led to her first group of students competing at state and national levels, and she has since helped establish similar programs in other schools. Her career spans teaching positions at Mid-Del Vo-Tech, Eisenhower Middle School, John Marshall High School—where she launched the Biotechnology Program—Centennial Mid-High, and Northeast Academy, where she pioneered its first middle school HOSA chapter. Today, she continues to inspire students as a CTE/Science Instructor at Emerson South Mid-High.

Lulla Belle's impact extends far beyond traditional academics. She has provided students with life-changing experiences, from conducting DNA analysis in labs to competing in national and international conferences. As a HOSA Advisor, she has led students to success in public speaking, parliamentary procedures, health poster illustrations, and science fairs, with many earning scholarships and awards for their achievements. Her unwavering dedication to education, mentorship, and community service has shaped countless lives, ensuring that her legacy continues through the success of her students and the programs she has built.
